You will find that there are more notes from me attached to some of the poems in this collection, pertaining only to that poem. There will appear the “notes” symbol in the right hand menu when there are such items attached. Just click the symbol.
I didn't write down many of the words that I was creating when I was a child. Even before I knew the meaning of the word Poetry, I used to walk the fields of home and rhyme about what I was experiencing, I remember, as early as age 8.
I gathered all the poems that I had written down and saved and put them together in this collection, called: “Sing It! The Song of the Individual.” It was actually “Say It!” at first. I did that collecting about 1984.
I reviewed and edited it somewhat in 2007, but it is essentially unchanged from the original, the Old Relic, as I call it now, wrapped in plastic in my files. There are a number of other books of Poetry sitting around in there, as well, not as well organized as this one, representing a lifetime of putting down the words that come to me.
I have found that I would not have written them the way they are, if I were writing them now. To a great extent, but not entirely, I have managed to resist the desire to rewrite them to reflect me, now, instead of the child or younger woman that I was.
